If you don’t already know then that awful thing we know as snoring, caused by air being forced through restricted airways and the resulting vibration of loose tissue round the neck and face, can be brought under control and even stopped by holding the lower jaw in a forward position.

This is how products known as Mandibular Advancement Devices, or MADs, basically work. They sit in your mouth and push your lower jaw forward, tightening your muscles and opening up your throat for easier, noise free breathing. What could be simpler?

Yet there are so many devices marketed as MADs that I am finding it ever more difficult to decide which one is going to hit the mark. The questions just keep on coming: Ahs it been tested? Is it safe? Will it fit? Is it cost-effective? Will it work!

It’s enough to keep you up at night!

Well, perhaps we can all rest a little easier because the product featured in this review, the PureSleep, is one of those anti-snoring-devices lucky enough to have been developed by people who not only know what they are doing but by people who have suffered from the blight of snoring.

Having this kind of invested know-how is always going to be an advantage, because someone who endured endless nights of poor sleep and day-after-day of under par performance is obviously going to be focused on delivering a product that works. Not only that, The PureSleep also benefits from having San Francisco-based dentist Dr. Douglas Fenton behind its design.

The PureSleep team, being comprised of both MAD users and anti-snoring device designers, was obviously very aware of how expensive prescribed mouthpieces can be, as they really deliver on that key component of any product: value.

It really is nicely priced and the deal offered essentially demands you pay attention and shouts at you that if you don’t at least give it a try, then you’re missing out.

The PureSleep, sourced and produced in the USA, arrives ready to be made into a customized mouthpiece that will serve your needs for anywhere between 6 to 9 months.

Provided with clear and easy to follow instructions you can snap the lower section of the device into one of three positions. This patented adjustability delivers you a more customized fit and thus more comfort. Do be sure to choose the setting carefully though. Take your time and be double sure you’ve chosen the correct one because once you snap the lower and upper sections into place you cannot reverse the process.

After that drop your device into just boiled water and then carefully take it out. Wait until it’s at a safe temperature then pop it in your mouth and bite down to mold it around your teeth. This then gives you a fit that helps the mouthpiece stay in place as you sleep.

You’re then ready for a noise free night and being an FDA-cleared prescription device you know you’re going to be able to trust the PureSleep to do its job. Your health and safety are not going to be put in jeopardy here.

I really like the way the company takes care of you. They make absolutely sure that you’re fully aware of what is important when buying a MAD. They do this by having you answer a comprehensive questionnaire before any purchase. It’s great to know they care, and it really makes you think about the condition of your teeth, gums and general fitness, which is no bad thing!

Ordering from the official website, which I always recommend for any medical device, really shows you how good the deal is in terms of value. Plus, if somehow you’re less than satisfied with the product, well, just send it back within 30-days and pay nothing more than the $9.95 for shipping and handling.

An added bonus of using a mouthpiece such as the PureSleep is that because it goes inside your mouth it stops your teeth from being damaged if you happen to be a teeth grinder.

This is where I found that I had to reread the information because the price in itself is a very clear advantage to anyone who has an eye on costs.

As of writing you can receive not one but two devices with storage containers for $59.90 + $9.95 shipping and handling. That’s just under $35 per unit. That, in short, is incredible value.

Just compare it to similar products and you truly get an idea of how much the manufacturers of the PureSleep have prioritized “value for money”. I have not been able to find a similar product that is more reasonably priced.

Although equipped with a “patented adjustable design” its level of adjustability is limited, because once you decide on one of the three positions available that is it. You cannot reverse the process and that restricts its comfort in my opinion. Why? Well, as I have found through my years of experience of using MADs your teeth, mouth and gums can and do change shape over time, so readjustment and the option to change the size, placement of the device when as needed really contributes to a products effectiveness.

If you wear full dentures or are having any kind of orthodontic treatment then you are going to have to stay clear of the PureSleep for now. Also, if you have issues such as severe gum disease loose teeth or abscess, keep this product to the side until you’re ready to use it.

As is common with all MADs you can experience temporary aching in neck and face muscles. Users will also most likely experience sore jaws, drooling and dry throat. But don’t worry! All of these issues, although uncomfortable to experience, typically resolve themselves within a short space of time, anywhere between a few days to a week, as you become used to wearing the device.

Wrap Up

I get a good feeling from the PureSleep. It’s certainly popular; you simply have to look at its worldwide sales for proof of that. It works hard to be the best that it can be at a very reasonable price.Plus, with the professionalism of those behind it, it’s difficult to ignore the positive impact it’s had on many ex-snorers lives. The world is certainly a quieter place because of it!

So, yes, if you’re looking for an effective anti-snoring device with a solid reputation you can’t go far wrong with this nicely priced, midrange, MAD.

If, however, you do find yourself needing more comfort, more control over adjustability, and an even better feature-cost-ratio then I can only lead you to one product: The VitalSleep.

Equipped with 1mm increments, adjustability whenever you need, and the option of two sizes, then this is simply it. The One. Even though it is comparable in price the PureSleep doesn’t come close to offering the same kind of guarantee that the VitalSleep comes armed with. In my opinion the VitalSleep has a level of comfort and customer service that is as yet unsurpassed by any other product in the same category.

CAUTION: Before you jump in and seal the deal with any anti-snoring devices that are worn be absolutely sure to speak with your doctor first. There’s every chance you could be a sufferer of Sleep Apnea.

Sleep apnea is a serious condition that can bring on strokes or high blood pressure. So please do be sure to consult with your professional healthcare giver before using any medical devices such as anti-snoring mouthpieces.
